Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson aka Katy Perry is the singer of our generation. Only 26 years old she has already won 22 awards and has been nominated as 93 times born in Santa Barbara California and raised in Southern California. Katy Perry is truly the singer of our nation. Katy Perry is truly the singer of our day.

Both of her parents are pastors. She grew up listening to gospel music and attended Christian schools . After freshmen year she took her GED and left school to pursue her career in music. When she was 15 her singing at church attracted rock veterans from Nashville Tennessee. They brought her there to perfect her talent and writing skills. She was taught how to play the guitar and create songs. Hudson started recorded demos and then signed to the Christian label Red Hill. in 2001 released a Gospel-rock album self titled Katy Hudson. The album didn't sell very well and in 2001 Red Hill official released her. Later that year she changed her name from Hudson to Perry ( her mom's maiden name.) The reason behind it was because her name sounded to much like Kate Hudson. At the age of 17 Perry left home and moved to Los Angelas. There she worked with Glen Ballard on an album for record label island. The album was supposed to be released in 05 but Billboard said it went nowhere. In 2004 Perry signed to Columbia Records. The label was not what she dreamed of. Unlike being put in charge in what she wanted to sing or do the label had other ideas. Columbia Records wanted to pair Perry with the record production team The Matrix. They were working on an album and Perry would serve as a female vocalist. She was soon dropped by the label and was on her own. Her big break came when Jason flom head of Capitol Music Group heard Perry's demo "Waking Up In Vegas"and signed her. There she began recording songs for her new album, "One Of The Boys".

Katy Perry has had her share of ups and down from getting released from to labels to getting married to Russel Brand. The world is truly on her side.
